The Chief Agronomist will develop better farming practices and find effective solutions for the farming industry.  Customize the GroGuru irrigation scheduling solution for the cotton and corn industry and other crops as needed.  Using the information collected by the GroGuru sensors and telemetry network, develop actionable recommendations to farmers to increase crop quality and yield while optimizing the resources used.  Manage and support dealer networks in US and in multiple countries worldwide.  Contribute to business development and work with the product teams on developing the product.

Duties include:

  1. Study plants and soil to develop better irrigation methods, techniques, and strategies to improve crop quality and yield.
  2. Develop strategic market assessments, strategic implementation plans for the market development of GroGuru technology, and irrigation templates taking into account crop type and associated irrigation methods.
  3. Maintain detailed records regarding fields, customers, crops, and samples.
  4. Generate reports and present findings to management, clients, or other interested parties.
  5. Promote GroGuru products and techniques through educational presentations.
  6. Conduct business development.
  7. Define product requirements for software development team and sales team.  

Minimum Requirements:

A Ph.D in Agronomy or Agricultural Sciences and 5 years of experience as an agronomist deploying irrigation management and monitoring systems. Domestic travel required up to 50% to undetermined client sites. May telecommute from any major city in the mid-western U.S. near an international airport.

Experience must include, but may be gained concurrently:

  1. 5 years or irrigation agronomy experience related to broad acre row crops including corn and cotton grown in U.S. and in diverse climates outside of the U.S.
  2. 5 years of experience presenting industry and technology trends related to irrigation agronomy to commercial farmers, dealers, and academic agronomists.
  3. 5 years of experience recruiting and supporting dealer networks in U.S. and non-U.S. markets.
